Fort Mill soldiers return home from Afghanistan

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - More than 100 National Guard soldiers based in Fort Mill have returned home after spending a year in Afghanistan.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports the members of the Army National Guard 1222nd Combat Engineers came home to hugs and tears Friday.

The unit spent the past year clearing bombs from roads and brought home all of its soldiers.

For many of the soldiers, it was their second or third deployment overseas.
