CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The road to the Governor's Mansion is paved in campaign cash.
Campaign donation figures released last week showed that Rep. candidate for governor Nikki Haley had raised a third of a million dollars more than her Democratic opponent, Vincent Sheheen, heading into the last two weeks before election day.
State Rep. Haley reported raising $2.16 million during the final fundraising quarter of the campaign, while state Sen. Sheheen's campaign said they raised $1.8 million for the period.
The pre-election filing, which includes the third calendar quarter of 2010, lists all contributions collected from July 1 through October 13. State law required all campaigns to file pre-election reports for the Nov. 2 general election by Monday.
