CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police believe graffiti painted on the pedestrian walkway of the Ravenel Bridge was simply an act of vandalism, a report shows.
That determination came after crime dogs searched for clues as to who wrote "BOOM" on the bridge, police said Monday.
According to the police report, a search of trash cans along the walkway yielded a paper towel with red paint on it. The paper towel was taken into evidence.
Walkers and bikers who saw the graffiti became worried that something could come of the possible threat.
"A little bit anxious, wondering what it is," said one person walking the bridge Monday. "I hope it's just a prank."
According to the police report, the SC Department of Transportation is going to clean the paint off the bridge.
