BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County voters said yes to an alcohol referendum during Tuesday's election.
The referendum allows the State Department of Revenue to issue temporary alcohol permits on a 24-hour basis to businesses and non-profit organizations.
Voters were in favor of the referendum with 68 percent voting yes and 32 percent voting no.
The permits can be issued every day of the week and at any time.
Most organizations say they will use the permits to sell alcohol at special events such as fundraisers and festivals.
