LADSON, SC (WCSC) - From walking and shopping and cutting a rug on the square dance stage -- there's something here for every senior.
The weather this year was a bit overcast, but that didn't keep these crowds from getting flu shots and, of course, playing some good old fashioned bingo.
But what about the rides? "Not since I got too old," says one senior fair-goer.
"I like the arts and crafts, the flowers," said one senior.
Many other seniors threw caution to the wind and couldn't get enough of the merry-go-round and the ferris wheel.
While the square dancing is fun to watch and the festive atmosphere is always a big draw, if you ask these seniors what they come for they'll tell you it's the food.
"I think the elephant ears, for sure."
"French fries and hot dogs."
And of course, some seniors had to try the fair's newest friend offering -- butter. James and Doris said it was the best thing they had ever put in their mouths.
No matter where their appetites take them or what foods they hail allegiance to, they all say it's a great chance to hang out with friends all day -- old and new.
