SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Kohler says it is eliminating 85 jobs in Spartanburg County as weakness continues in the housing industry.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported Kohler said Thursday the cuts in Spartanburg are part of 750 jobs being eliminated from plumbing operations.
Kohler spokesman Todd Weber says the reductions in Spartanburg are in production and administrative positions.
Jim Westdrop with Kohler says there is no sign of recovery in the housing market.
The company says not only are builders not building as many house, homeowners are not doing as much remodeling because they worry they won't recover the cost.
It was not immediately clear if the Spartanburg workers will be offered severance package and help finding other jobs.
