Downtown Charleston parade celebrates veterans

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Thursday is Veteran's Day, but the Holy City honored veterans a few days early with its annual Veteran's Day parade.

The parade kicked off around 2 p.m. Sunday at Concord and Market streets, heading west and ending at Colonial Lake.

The parade included several marching bands, historic military vehicles, military floats and a C-17 flyover sponsored by the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.

The parade's grand marshal was a World War II survivor of the Japanese Kamikaze on the USS Laffey.
