WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Tuesday night while trying to cross Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.
According to Charleston police, the pedestrian was running across Sam Rittenberg Boulevard from Skylark Drive when he was struck by the motorist around 8:20 p.m.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian died from his injuries. Management at the Town & Country identified the victim as Kevin Gibbs, who had worked there for 12 years.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office confirmed the victim's identity Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the pedestrian contributed to the accident and the motorist did not. No charges will be filed against the motorist.
