CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County will offer a preview of activities a proposed senior center in West Ashley might offer when it opens.
The event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Jewish Community Center from 2-5 p.m.
Strong support for a building a senior center in West Ashley came when over 500 responses were sent in when the county asked for residents' opinions on the matter over the summer. The preview is meant to get seniors involved in the planning process for the facility.
City of Charleston Councilman Aubry Alexander and County Councilwoman Colleen Condon will attend the event, and several activities are planned for the afternoon, including music, dancing, exercise, and refreshments. Survey results will be presented at 4:15 p.m.
The next step will be to identify funding needs and sources, as well as finding a location for the proposed center. Information on the senior center, news, and survey results can be found at http://seniorcenter.charlestoncounty.org.
