NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A recipient of the Medal of Honor has been invited to speak at a Veterans Day ceremony in North Charleston.
Retired Marine Major General James Livingston will speak Thursday during the city's annual event to honor veterans.
Veterans attending the event each year are honored with a medal. Last year, more than 400 veterans were celebrated during the North Charleston event.
There are now only 87 living recipients of the Medal of Honor although that number increases to 88 next week.
That's when President Barack Obama bestows the medal on Army Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta for gallantry in Afghanistan.
