LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (CBS) - In many states, texting or emailing while driving could get you a fine. Now, Central Florida's largest employer is banning texting while driving on the job, and placing harsh penalties on employees who continue to do so.

Disney has ordered a texting while driving ban for all employees.  If employees are "on the clock" they are not permitted to text while driving, no matter where they are.

The enhanced rules apply to all Disney workers across the country.

These include prohibiting Disney employees from sending or reading texts or emails while driving company cars or their private cars while performing duties related to their Disney jobs.

In Florida, it's legal to text while driving, which raises a question for some employees.

"If it's on property, that's private property and they can do whatever they wish, but you aren't on property it's really none of their business," said Disney employee Bekah Kennedy.

"I can understand them not wanting us to do that because they can have the chance of losing us if we get into an accident," said Kennedy, "But terminating is just a bit extreme."

Disney says infractions will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Florida Highway Patrol says it is often difficult for law enforcement to prove someone is texting while driving.

Exactly how Disney plans to prove their workers are texting is still unclear.
