Man convicted of 1990 murders denied parole

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - A man serving a life sentence for the 1990 murder of an elderly Murrells Inlet couple was denied parole in the case.

Brian Hoffman has been in prison since the killing of George and Arlene Thompkins at their home in the Collins Creek community.  Following the killings, Hoffman led police on a three day manhunt across Georgetown and Horry counties.

Hoffman was captured after being discovered in a trailer near Conway.  Originally from Connecticut, Hoffman had been living in Surfside Beach at the time of the killings.

The life sentence included convictions for first degree criminal sexual assault, first degree burglary, and grand larceny, as well as the murders.
