NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Tuesday night on Rivers Avenue.
According to Charleston police, officers responded to 7643 Rivers Ave. near the Northwoods Mall just after 6 p.m. Officers responded to an accident where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. Officers observed a male victim lying in the roadway in the eastbound lane of traffic unresponsive.
The victim, identified by the Charleston County Coroner's Office as 56-year-old Alfornia Parker, died on scene after being struck by a silver Jeep Cherokee.
The accident is under investigation and the driver has not been charged with any violations.
Emergency crews responded to another accident Tuesday night. An earlier accident happened around 5 p.m. and involved a motorcycle on Chisolm Road near St. Johns High school in Charleston County. Officers are not sure if other cars were involved, or what caused the crash.
Officials have not commented on injuries in the second accident.
