CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Firefighters were called to a Ladson home that suffered major damage after a fire Thursday night.
The Old Fort Fire Department responded to the residential fire, which occurred at 2651 Ladson Road. The Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family of four, including two adults and two children.
The Red Cross provided temporary lodging for the fire victims, as well as financial assistance to replace the food that was lost in the fire. At the scene, the Red Cross provided the fire victims fresh T-shirts as well as comfort kits filled with personal emergency supplies. In addition, the Red Cross is assisting the family in replacing medications destroyed in the fire.
The Red Cross has assisted 999 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since Jan. 1.
