Cottageville has new mayor

COTTAGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Following an upheaval in town government that saw the resignation of former mayor George White, Cottageville has a new mayor.  Margaret Steen was unopposed in her bid for the office.

Steen's first official meeting as mayor will be December 6.  She will be present at a special budget meeting called by interim Mayor Jimmy Ramsey.

One of Steen's first orders of business will be to find a police chief. The town will advertise to fill the position, which was left open after the departure of former Chief of Police Shane Roberts.

Steen is Cottageville's first female mayor, but this is her second term in the office.  She served as the town's mayor in the late 1980's.
