Drayton Hall food drive helps Salvation Army

CHARELSTON, SC (WCSC) - On Thursday, November 18, 2010 the Drayton Hall Elementary School Student Council and student body donated over 3,000 items including non-perishable food and medical, health, and emergency needs to the Salvation Army.

The drive started as an idea presented to the assistant principal by the Drayton Hall Student Council and the Student Council President, Lauren Haseldon.  Ms. Haseldon stated, "We did the food drive to help the people who are homeless and hungry in our community."

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Student Council representatives decided to help those in our community in need.  Homerooms have been competing against each other since November 9 to see which class could donate the most items.  Each morning the Student Council counted, collected, and packed items.
