Victims identified in fatal head-on collision in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Two people were killed in a three-car collision Sunday night in Georgetown County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a driver was attempting to pass another car in a no-passing zone along Choppee Road when the driver pulled into the other lane to pass, he struck another car head-on.

That driver, 72-year-old Harry Lawrence of Georgetown, was killed. The driver of the car he hit, 66-year-old Teresa Homles, also of Georgetown, was also killed. They both died on the scene.

The driver of the third car was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident.
