GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies seized six pit bulls in the Jock Trail area of the county on Nov. 9.
The dogs were found tethered with heavy chains behind an abandoned residence. Several of the animals were out of reach of water, but all had access to dog houses. The dogs showed evidence of fighting injuries. Three of the dogs are female and three are male.
The St. Frances Animal Center examined the dogs and found them to be in poor health. The shelter also reported that the dogs have shown very aggressive behavior toward other animals and shelter workers. They also displayed evidence of being abused by humans.
The sheriff's office asks that anyone having information about the owner of these dogs, or evidence of dog fighting in Georgetown County, is asked to call investigators at (843) 546-5102. Anonymous tips can also be texted to 274637 by texting the word "GCSOTIP".
