Summerville police look for bank robbery suspect

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Summerville police are looking for a suspect they say robbed a Summerville bank Tuesday morning.

According to police, the suspect robbed the First Citizens Bank located at 1801 Trolley Road was robbed around 10:40 a.m. Police describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 5'6", weighing around 150 pounds

"He was wearing a rust colored sweatshirt pulled over his face. You can see it in the pictures and demanded cash. The tellers did exactly what they were supposed to do and gave him cash. He left the building," Summerville Police Captain Jon Rogers said.

No weapons were displayed during the robbery and there were no customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery, according to police.

Witnesses told police that after the suspect left the bank, they saw him enter a white van.

"Witnesses saw him running into a white van. We believe it is a work style van with no windows and leaving the scene. We had a little more information than we had coming here. The dye pack did exactly what it was supposed to do," Rogers said.

There were no injuries during the robbery. Summerville police are still trying to locate the suspect.
