SC man almost trashes $200K lottery ticket

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – Carson Minick almost threw away $200,000.  The Johnston man scratched a 'Right on the Money' instant ticket, decided he didn't win and tossed the ticket down in his truck's floor board.

"It was trash," Minick said.  "But I thought I'd better take one more look."

The second effort revealed the ticket was worth $200,000.

"I couldn't think then, and I still can't think now," Minick told lottery officials when he cashed in the ticket.

After 33 years in the construction business, Minick's first purchase will be his home.  The father of five, and grandfather to 15, has been thinking about buying his house for a while now but didn't know how he would swing it.

"My first call will be to my landlord," he said.

Right on the Money is a $10 instant ticket.  More than $4.7 million in prizes remain in the game including one top prize of $200,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Ehrhardt Speed Stop in Ehrhardt received $2,000 for selling the winning ticket.
