Couple burglarized after posting vacation plans on Facebook

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (CNN) - A Florida couple believes social networking may be to blame for thieves raiding their home.

Sandy Barrios says someone broke into his Port St. Lucie home while he and his wife were out of town. Barrios thinks someone saw his post about their trip on Facebook and says nearly $30,000 worth of jewelry and electronics were stolen.

"You might be compelled to put your happy vacation on social networking sites for everyone to see," Sandy Barrios said, "but you have to remember that other people may be looking at your friend's pages might be looking at your stuff and what you have."

Police warn that it is never a good idea to post online that you'll be out of town.
