DNA match leads to arrest of Georgetown man in killing

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - A Georgetown man has been arrested in a shooting death after authorities determined he matched DNA found on a bag of drugs.

Multiple media outlets reported that Horry County police have charged 28-year-old Ervin Christopher Gamble with murder in the 2009 shooting death of Stewart Reichard in Garden City Beach.

Sgt. Robert Kegler says Gamble was in the Lee Correctional Institution on unrelated charges when he was charged with murder.

Reichard was found on the front porch of a house July 14, 2009 and was taken to Waccamaw Community Hospital where he died.

Detectives found a small plastic bag of narcotics with Reichard and DNA found on the bag belonged to Gamble.

It's unclear if Gamble has an attorney yet on the murder charge.
