Investigation continues into Beaufort County shooting

BEAUFORT, SC (WCSC) – The investigation into the Nov. 25 shootings at a Bray's Island Plantation residence continues as Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies work to piece together the events leading up to and including the incident.

Preliminary autopsy reports have confirmed that 42-year old James Piotrowski suffered multiple gunshot wounds, one of which was fired by a responding Bray's Island security officer, 58-year-old Charles Gary Knox.

Based on evaluations of the crime scene, interviews, and collected evidence, Knox's fatal wounding of Piotrowski is being considered a justified use of force.
