Comptroller's state credit card report issued for November

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - The now-monthly practice of making public the credit card purchases of all state agencies has again been made public by the Comptroller General's office.

About $12.6 million was spent during the month of November, the office reported.

In April, state Comptroller Richard Eckstrom began reporting all charge card expenditures for all state agencies as part of an effort to increase government transparency and reduce opportunities for waste, abuse and fraud. He provides this information monthly on his office's Web site,

It has been erroneously reported in some media outlets that colleges and universities have recently been added to the report. However, that data has been included since the beginning, as noted in a report by WCSC, the CBS affiliate in Charleston, SC, in July.
