Man robbed at gunpoint during ATM stop in Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A man was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night when he made a stop at an ATM, police said.

According to the incident report, the robbery happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bank of America on Anna Knapp Boulevard.

The man told police he stopped at the ATM and had to get out of his vehicle because the front window did not roll down all the way. When he exited his vehicle, a man approached with a gun and demanded he enter his PIN and hand over his cell phone. Then he was told to drive away, the report stated.

The victim described the subject as a 6-foot-tall black man dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask.

According to the report, the victim saw a second man dressed in all black approach the ATM as he drive off.

Bank of America told police they would compile video surveillance from the ATM location and pass it along to police.

This robbery is the second reported ATM attack of the night. The other robbery took place at a West Ashley Wachovia location near Citadel Mall.

Both Charleston Police and Mt. Pleasant Police are working together to assess the crimes, but Charleston Police say the robberies are not related.
