Family: 'Grinch stole our Christmas decorations'

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A West Ashley family called in police to help them figure out who stole three Christmas decorations from their front yard late Tuesday night.

Police arrived at the Planter's Road home shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday. The victim Ellen Matheson showed the officers where the decorations -- a crystal LED polar bear and a pair of lighted deer -- had been the night before.

"My daughter is 'wild' about polar bears," Matheson said in an email. "And she said that the mama and baby deer are 'us.'"

The three yard decorations are valued at $130.

While Matheson says the theft made her and her daughter sad, she remains Christmas hopeful.

"I hope something happens to them that melts their cold heart and they decide to return our animals to us," she said of the unknown robbers.
