Goal Achieved: Toy Blitz raises over 5,000 toys

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - After recounting totals from locations across the Lowcountry, organizers for this year's Debi's Kids and Salvation Army Angel Tree Toy Blitz announced Wednesday evening the 5,000-toy goal had been exceeded.

At Hudson Nissan off Rivers Avenue the gifts poured in all day. At 6 p.m. there was a grand total of 882 gifts. Big donations during the day included $5,000 from Tom Downing, general manager for Hudson Nissan, a $1,900 donation from the Charleston Battery soccer team and Synter Resources Group donated 121 toys.

Blitz locations were at Hudson Nissan on Rivers Avenue, Subway on Bacon's Bridge in Summerville, Home Telephone on Stony Landing in Moncks Corner and the Live 5 Studios in West Ashley off Glen McConnell Parkway.

Be sure to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a child 12 or younger. Here is a list of who will be out the blitz locations today:

Live 5 Studios

Noon: Bill Burr, Chad Watson

4-7:30 p.m.: Debi Chard, reporters and other anchors will be out collecting toys

Hudson Nissan

Noon: Ann McGill and Jordan Smith. 4-6 p.m.: Mark Davenport

Subway 975 Bacons Ridge Rd. Galleria Shopping Center Summerville

Aisha Tyler and Alan Campbell

HOME Telco 579 Stoney Landing Rd. Moncks Corner

Afternoon: Harve Jacobs and Tracey Amick

Toys can also be dropped in bins at Walmart stores throughout the Tri-county.
