CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Lowcountry businesses, churches, and community organizations are partnering to help children and families meet some of their most basic needs during Charleston's 9th annual Convoy of Hope outreach. The event will be held Saturday, December 11 at 10 a.m. at Meeting and Lee streets.
The 2010 Convoy will be Charleston's Largest Christmas Party, at which more than 100,000 pounds of free groceries will be distributed along with free health screenings, job fairs, haircuts, games and activities for children, gifts for the first 1500 children, and live entertainment. Approximately 1,000 volunteers from 70 churches, local businesses, and community organizations will come together to make a difference in their community.
The outreach will take place rain or shine. No identification is required to attend. Groceries will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
