Accused stalker doc allowed to leave state for mental help

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -  A doctor accused of stalking has been allowed to leave the state to receive mental health counseling.

A judge ordered 29-year-old Karl Ehrens to go to Boston for treatment after Ehrens posted his $40,000 bond. Ehrens apparently has family ties in that city.

As part of the judge's order, Ehrens must keep in touch with his bail bondsman and return to Charleston for court hearings.

Charleston County deputies say Ehrens stalked and harassed a Charleston woman, and violated a restraining order.
