ATLANTA (AP) - Ice-slicked roads are prompting warnings of treacherous driving conditions and delaying school openings across a swath of the country, mainly in the South.
In metro Atlanta and north Georgia, icy conditions prompted road closures early Thursday, a day after slick surfaces led to hundreds of car crashes in the area.
Schools in states including Georgia, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina have either closed for the day or delayed opening.
In Ohio, plows were out in counties near the Ohio River. And a spokeswoman for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport says airlines are experiencing weather delays and cancellations.
Meanwhile, snow is also expected later in the day Washington, Philadelphia and parts of Virginia and West Virginia.
