MONCKS CORNER — A three-car accident on U.S. 17A in Moncks Corner sent seven people, most of them teenagers, to the hospital Wednesday night.
The three-car wreck occurred just before 6 p.m. on U.S. 17A near Old Gilliard Road.
A 2006 Nissan and a 2006 Ford bus, or large passenger van, were stopped in the roadway waiting for another car to turn left, when a 1995 Nissan carrying five passengers hit the 2006 Nissan, which caused it to hit the Ford bus in front of it, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bob Beres said.
One person was air-lifted to MUSC and the other victims were taken by ambulance to three different area hospitals including Moncks Corner Medical Center, Trident Medical Center and MUSC. None of the injuries were life threatening.
Beres said the driver of the 1995 Nissan, a 16-year-old driver, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
