NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An effort to get guns off of North Charleston streets has been postponed due to expected inclement weather in the area Saturday.
The North Charleston Gun Buy Back Initiative had been scheduled for 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, December 18. The program offers gift cards in exchange for guns with no questions asked.
With high chances of heavy rain for Friday night and Saturday, North Charleston police officials have decided to postpone the event. No date has yet been set, but officials are looking at sometime in January 2011.
In 2009, the buy back got 127 guns off the streets.
