2 employees being evaluated after International Paper gas leak

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Two people were transported to the Georgetown Memorial Hospital Friday after an unidentified gas was released on them, officials said.

The two people work at International Paper.

Officials said the two employees were decontaminated outside the building before being transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation.

The mill released a statement saying officials there were continuing to monitor the situation.

"Our Georgetown mill is committed to the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors and the community," the release said.
