3 arrested, 1 sought in Johns Island robbery case

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Three people have been arrested and a fourth is being sought in a Dec. 9 robbery on Johns Island.

According to Charleston police, Javar Dwayne Middleton, 18, Cordell Desmond Perlote, 19, and Shatiqua Monique Wright Brown, 18, have been arrested and charged with 1st degree burglary, kidnapping, armed robbery and 1st degree assault and battery.

Police are still searchign for 19-year-old Kameron Charles Clay. He is charged with the same crimes as his alleged cohorts as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and pointing a firearm at a person.

According to a police report, officers responded to the Maybank Highway apartment around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 9 after receiving calls of a burglary in progress.

Officers met with two victims who said their assailants demanded the victims step outside their home "or we will shoot you," the report stated. One of the victims tried to escape, but was hit in the head with a handgun.

The victim was then ordered to take off his clothes and hand over his gold teeth, the report stated. The victim said he did not recognize any of the suspects.

A witness told police she recognized the driver, Brown, when the suspects drove past her.
