EFFINGHAM, SC (WMBF) – The Florence County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man's body was discovered in a ditch in Effingham.

A passerby called 911 around 10 a.m. on Saturday morning about a possible body in a ditch on Pygatt Road. Investigators described the body as that of a white male, approximately 20 to 30 years old, with a heavy build. He had dark hair and was wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes and a white t-shirt.

According to Florence County Coroner M.G. "Bubba" Matthews, the body has been sent for an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office is asking that anyone with information call (843)665-2121, ext. 367, and any information can be given anonymously.
