Family of 7 displaced by fire, Red Cross assisting

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Red Cross volunteers were called to the scene of a Ravenel home fire to assist a family of seven, including five children who lost everything to the fire that destroyed their home.

The Red Cross provided this family with temporary shelter in a nearby hotel, financial assistance to help replace the food, and clothing, including seasonal garments and shoes that were lost in the fire. Volunteers also provided the family comfort kits filled with personal emergency supplies, toys for the children, afghans and referrals to partner agencies.

The Red Cross will follow up to assure that the long-term needs of the fire victims have been met.
