I-77/26 interchange named for lieutenant governor

CAYCE, S.C. (AP) - A major interchange near Columbia is being named for South Carolina's lieutenant governor.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation says the Interstate 77 and Interstate 26 interchange will now be known as the "Lt. Governor-Senator Andre Bauer Interchange."

The SCDOT says the Lexington County legislative delegation requested the naming of the interchange.

Bauer will leave the lieutenant governor's office in January after eight years. He also spent a term in the South Carolina House and Senate.
