North Charleston police arrest man with gun

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A man who took off running after being approached by a North Charleston police officer was arrested for unlawfully carrying a pistol. The gun's serial number had been filed off, the incident report showed.

About 7 p.m. Tuesday, the officer stepped out of his patrol car and told two men at Lenape Street and Cosgrove Avenue he wanted to talk to them. According to the incident report, the two men matched the description of suspects in an armed robbery at St. Charles Place.

One of the men, 22-year-old Marquis Dominique Desaussure, took off running. Police rounded him up after a long foot chase that included the suspect climbing over a barbed-wire fence

Police found five .38 Special rounds in his pocket and two more rounds and a silver revolver with the serial number filed off near a dumpster the suspect had run past, the report stated.

Desaussure was charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun and possession of a handgun with obliterated serial number.

He was transported to the Charleston County Detention Center.
