HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WCSC) – The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has made one arrest in the shooting death of Carlos Alberto Olivera, which occurred on Christmas Eve in Bluffton.
Carlos Alberto Olivera was shot and killed after a dispute with Preston Oates, the operator of Pro Tow over a parking violation in the Edgefield community of Bluffton.
Oates was arrested at 5 p.m. Monday at the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Southern Enforcement Substation on Hilton Head Island. Oates was taken into custody and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting further proceedings.
Oates has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
The investigation is ongoing, officials said.
