Gas prices climb again, creep closer to $3 per gallon

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The average price of gasoline in South Carolina has risen 6.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.86 a gallon Monday.

The national average  increased 4.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.03per gallon, according to gasoline price website

Including the change in gas prices in South Carolina during the past week, prices were 42.8 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 22 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 17.7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 42.9 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

The cheapest gas in the Lowcountry can be found North of Charleston.

$2.79: Shell Station on Dorchester and Ashley Phosphate Rd. in North Charleston.

$2.79: Shell Station on Red Bank Road and Harbour Lake Drive in Goose Creek.

$2.79: Valero Station on Dorchester and Lambs Road in North Charleston.

$2.79: Exxon Station on Red Bank and Harbour Lake Road in Goose Creek.

$2.79: Citgo Station on Dorchester Road near I-526 in North Charleston.
