NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A family of four from Virginia is breathing a sigh of relief after having mechanical problems on their plane as they approached Charleston International Airport.
The family, who wished to remain nameless, said they were flying to Charleston as part of their vacation when they experienced a landing gear problem. Their plane skidded on the runway after touching down with collapsed gear.
No one was injured, the family said.
According to Becky Beaman with the Charleston Aviation Authority, the crew of a "Mooney" model aircraft alerted officials of a possible landing gear problem.
The craft was towed to Atlantic Aviation after it came to a stop on the runway.
