2 arrested for shooting at Charleston County deputy

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Two men were arrested Saturday after robbing a house on Johns Island and attempting to shoot and kill a Charleston County Sheriff's deputy.

At 2 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies responded to a robbery at 3026 Cane Slash Road in which a foot pursuit followed with the suspects firing two gun shots at a deputy.

According to the victim of the burglary, the suspects kicked in the front door and entered the home. One of the suspects was armed with a silver handgun. When deputies arrived, the suspects fled the home.

One suspect, 26-year-old Christopher Boling, was arrested at the scene, and the other suspect, 26-year-old Kevin Russell was later arrested after being found hiding in his closet.

Both suspects have been arrested and charged with attempted murder and first degree burglary.

The deputy was not injured in this shooting. Another deputy responding to the scene was involved in an accident responding to the scene and was transported to a local hospital, but was not injured.
