North Charleston man shot in neck

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured Sunday night.

According to police, the shooting happened just before 8 p.m. Sunday at 1814 Calvert Street, just off Spruill Avenue. Authorities say one person was shot in the neck outside an abandoned home.

According to the police report, when officers arrived on scene they found the victim standing on the porch holding a towel on his neck. The victim was unable to speak and began pacing the yard. When asked if he knew the person who shot him, the victim nodded his head.

The victim's brother and mother were on scene at the time of the shooting but both stated they were inside the house and thought the shot was a firework. The mother told police that the victim rushed into the front door holding his neck telling her to call EMS and that "Stacks" shot him.

The victim's mother told police that "Stacks" was the same person that set a fire in their yard a week or so ago. The mother stated that she did not know "Stacks'" real name, but that she did know he drives a black car and lives in the Chicora Cherokee area.

Officers located what they believe might be a piece of a knife or gun on the ground near the victim's property.

The victim was transported to MUSC.
