CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An accident on Interstate 526 is causing traffic delays after a car went in the marsh.
The accident happened about 1:10 p.m. on I-526 westbound at Ashley River Road. According to Charleston police, the driver of the vehicle, who was headed into the city, went off the road to the left, over corrected and went into the marsh.
The driver received minor injuries and was transported to MUSC. Witnesses said the car was 30 to 40 yards off the road on the right flipped over on its roof.
Traffic was backed up over a mile over the Westmoreland Bridge. Officers cleared the scene around 3:20 p.m.
