Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville area wins $100,000 from Walmart

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville area won $100,000 after placing fifth in Walmart's fighting hunger Facebook campaign.

As one of the country's top finishers, the area received $100,000 Wednesday, which according to the Lowcountry Food Bank, could provide 1 million meals for those in need.

A message on the Lowcountry Food Bank's website read: "Thank you for voting and making a difference in the lives of thousands of food insecure individuals in our area!"
