CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Charleston Mayor Joe Riley announced his campaign manager as he seeks re-reelection in November.
Riley named Ginny Deerin, founder of Wings for kids, a Charleston based non-profit organization, as his campaign manager.
"Ginny is smart, competent and brings a fresh perspective," Riley said. "She's someone who inspires people to work together for common good. I'm thrilled she's picked my campaign to devote her energy to."
In 1974, Deerin began her political as a staffer on the Ravenel for governor campaign, according to a release from Riley's office. Deerin also worked 10 years at Rawle Murdy in Charleston, at the College of William and Mary doing fundraising and she worked at the Hollings Cancer Center and the Coastal Community Foundation.
"I am one of the many, many people who love Joe Riley," Deerin said. "He gets the job done for Charleston and I am honored to play a role in making sure we keep the best mayor in the country during these times which are so challenging for so many."
