PRESCOTT, Ark. (AP) - Firestone Building Products Co. says 100 workers will be added at the company's plant in Prescott as the result of a $20 million expansion.
The Indianapolis-based company said in a news release Friday that the expansion stems from the planned closure of Firestone's plant in Kingstree, S.C., and consolidation of production of a roofing-membrane material at the Prescott plant, which now has about 400 workers. In addition to the roofing membrane, the plant makes flashing and seam tape.
The company said incentives from the state of Arkansas, Nevada County and the city of Prescott played a role in its plans.
The release said production equipment from the South Carolina plant will be moved to Prescott plant over the next six months. The Kingstree plant is expected to close in July.
