COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The winter weather that has closed schools and government offices is also affecting this week's inaugural events for Gov.-elect Nikki Haley.
Her planned "Family Fun Night" has been shifted from Tuesday to Saturday, Jan. 22, because of the ice and snow.
Haley's transition and inaugural teams announced Monday the event will be held at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Cantey Building on the State Fairgrounds. It was initially set for Tuesday evening.
The family event is to include live music and Southern food. Tickets are $20 per adult.
A wintry mix of snow and freezing rain was expected to lead to poor conditions overnight. Gov. Mark Sanford declared a state of emergency.
Haley is to be sworn in to office Wednesday.
