COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Two men may have saved the life of a 77-year-old man after pulling him out of his logging truck before it caught on fire following an accident in Colleton County Wednesday.

The victim, 77-year-old Donald Searson, apparently lost control of his logging truck and hit a ditch Wednesday morning on Highway 61 in Colleton County. Two men were able to pull him from the wreckage moments before the rig caught on fire.

"They pulled him out of the truck and as soon his feet hit the concrete, the truck exploded," said Searson's sister, Mary Proveaux. "We don't know who they are, but  we would like to thank them very much because they actually saved my dad's life."

Searson was seriously injured with head, leg and rib injuries. Proveaux, says Searson will be in intensive care at MUSC for at least two weeks and has a long road ahead to recovery.

The cause of the accident is unknown. The Highway Patrol is investigating.
