Streets reopened after gas leak causes stir

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A gas leak in downtown Charleston shut down several streets late Sunday night into early Monday morning.

The gas leak shut down parts of 12th Avenue, Simons street Piedmont Avenue and Gordon Street from around 9 p.m. Sunday until early Monday morning.

No one was injured during the incident.

Witnesses say they could smell gas from five or six blocks away.

Officials are looking into the cause of the leak.
